860 is on the 1156 chipset, where the mobos can be cheaper because they all use Dual Channel RAM
920 is on the 1366 chipset, ie the performance one, has Tri Channel RAM
So for apps that are RAM limited, the 920 makes sense. For BOINC, Any old dual core AMD + 2x PCI-E slot is good
